Onattukara Sahithi

Onattukara Sahithi is a socio-cultural organization dedicated to reviving the rich cultural heritage of the Onattukara region, formerly part of Central Travancore and now spanning across five taluks.

We are hosting a National Literature Festival (Vaikhari) in Mavelikara, a significant literary hub renowned for its contributions to Malayalam literature. This region has produced literary luminaries such as A.R. Rajarajavarma, Thoppil Bhasi, Prof. S. Gupthan Nair, and P. Padmarajan.

The two-day Vaikhari (Onattukara Sahitya Samgamam) will take place at JEEVARAM, Mavelikara, on October 26th and 27th, 2024.

The festival will commence with an inaugural session followed by six literary sessions, including a multilingual session, featuring eminent writers from both national and state levels.

Our distinguished guest list includes veteran writers like Pratibha Ray (Jnanapith, Padmashree, and Padmabhooshan), Sharan Kumar Limbale (Marathi - Saraswati Samman winner), Damodar Pauzo (Konkani - Jnanapith winner), and more.

In addition to the literary sessions, we will also host a cultural event.

The festival will conclude with a closing ceremony and certificate distribution on October 27th.

Other notable invitees include Malayalam writers N.S. Madhavan, Bennyamin, T.D. Ramakrishnan, Dr. M.G. Sasibhooshan, Manoj Kuroor, K.P. Ramanunni, Lopa Mudra, Sheeja Vakkom, and several celebrated writers and orators. We are actively pursuing collaborations with more renowned Malayalam writers. This will be the first national-level literary event of its kind in Mavelikara.
